Cervical Cancer Screening & Prevention

Cervical Cancer happens mostly due to HPV. To detect Cervical cancer various tests are done. They are :

  1. PAP Smear/ PAP Test – Used to detect potentially precancerous and cancerous processes in the cervix or colon. Abnormal findings are often followed up by more sensitive diagnostic procedures.
  2. Colposcopy – A test to take a closer look at your cervix. The cervix is the opening to your womb from your vagina. A colposcopy is often done if cervical screening finds changes to your cells that are caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV).
  3. Hysteroscopy – Procedure used to examine the inside of the womb (uterus). It’s carried out using a hysteroscope, which is a narrow telescope with a light and camera at the end. Images are sent to a monitor so your doctor can see inside your womb.
